Open Door Baptist Church
Our worship services have one objective which is to exalt the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We promote prayer, praise, preaching., and practice. Oswald Chambers said, "Worship and intercession must go together, the one is impossible without the other. Intercession means that we rouse ourselves up to get the mind of Christ about the one for whom we pray." Edwin Orr said, "History is silent about revivals that did not begin with prayer." Prayer is an essential part of our church.
Praise or worship is, also, a priority in our services. It is our goal to lift up Christ. One of the common sayings around our church is "Its all about Him!" A.W. Tozer said, "I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven."
We believe that one of the most important parts of any worship service is the preaching of God's Word. It is, according to 1 Corinthians 1:21, the means by which God has chosen to save them that believe. We hold the King James Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, preserved Word of God. We promote Biblical preaching.
We, also, strive to practice what we believe. It is our desire to be busy about the Lord's work. Ephesians 2:8-10 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." It has been said that the test of a preacher is that is congregation goes away saying, not "What a lovely sermon", but " I will do something!"
